Supporting good humans running for elected office, wherever we find them.

PATRIOTIC HEN AND

About Minnesota's
Patriotic Chickens

Thank you for visiting our coop. Please let us know what you are thinking or what we can do to help more good humans get elected.

We’re a mom and pop (or hen and rooster, if you will) political action committee based in Minnesota. We were founded on the principle that “good humans make good policy,” and therefore we do what we can in our small way to encourage voters to choose good humans when casting their votes.

Several years ago, we invited a group of friends marching in a Lakeville (MN) Pan-O-Prog parade to a “Patriotic Chicken Dinner” afterparty in our backyard. One guest mistakenly thought it was the chickens, and not the dinner, that were “patriotic” and thus an inside joke was born.

This led to other events and travels under the “Patriotic Chickens” banner, and when we decided to do what we could do to help elect good humans to office we decided the quirky nature of the name was perfect for our efforts.

Our of our purposes is to promote voting –a especially early voting and vote-by-mail – in Lakeville. We refer you, through links, to candidate Web sites so that you can learn more about them and their stances on issues.

Our criteria for choosing who to highlight on our Web site:

  • candidates who run positive campaigns, and call on others to strive for this standard, too;
  • candidates who exemplify the concept of public servant, whether in office or in other leadership roles in the community; and
  • candidates who will work across the aisle with civility, honesty and compromise  to move our local, state and federal governments forward in solving the many problems we face.

Why are we doing this?

We’ve long thought about this but were finally pushed into action when a well-funded PAC, fueled primarily with dark out-of-state money, started a negative advertising campaign to disparage one of our local elected leaders. Politics have gotten so much more divisive than in the past, and even inhuman (yes, that is ironic coming from a chicken).

We thought: what can we, as a couple local people wanting clean elections, do in some sort of small way to help? Thus on September 9, 2020 the Patriotic Chickens was born at our kitchen table.

We are self-funded. We do not need your money, but would love your help. Volunteer your time to help find locations for signs or to write postcards to like-minded people in our community. Contact us to let us know you would like to help.

We are registered with the Minnesota Campaign Finance Board and the Federal Election Committee to make independent expenditures and are independent of any campaign or candidate.
