Social Security, created by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt more than 90 years ago, has kept more people out poverty than any other program.

It’s brilliance is partially based in its simplicity. It is social insurance. Premiums are paid by the workers themselves through a payroll tax. Lifetime benefits are paid to those workers who become disabled, families of workers who die prematurely, and workers who retire and no longer earn a wage.

How the Patriotic Chickens were hatched

The legend of the Patriotic Chickens was born from a comment at a fundraiser in its founders backyard. It was billed as a “Patriotic Chicken Dinner” and one guest asked whether it was the dinner that was patriotic or the chickens.

It begin it’s life as a micro PAC to help Good Humans get elected in one tiny area. It’s mission has evolved into an educational effort to inform Americans about Social Security, Medicare/health care and the need to address our country’s fiscal problems by rebalancing the tax collections back to what it was when America’s middle and working classes were thriving.
